African American Heritage Coalition

The AAHC is a coalition of grassroots community organizations in Philadelphia banded together since 2002 to provide the African American Community with information and the opportunity to participate in direct action concerning specific issues of importance. Previous activities of the AAHC include, without limitation:

  1. the removal of advertisements for the film, "Get Rich or Die Trying";
  2. Action against Stop and Go establishments to prevent the sale of alcohol products and drug paraphernalia to minors;
  3. advocating for the discontinuation of the contract between the School District of Philadelphia and "K-12", a company in which talk show host Bill Bennet was part owner;
  4. an economic empowerment meeting where the keynote speaker was Prof. John Klingman, author of "Blackonomics"; and
  5. work in conjunction with other advocacy groups to raise the minimum wage in Pennsylvania.
