Liberty City Democratic Club
Liberty City is a voluntary, political action committee serving the greater Philadelphia region as an affiliate of the National Stonewall Democrats.
The members have joined together to work within the Democratic Party, in the public arena, and throughout the region, state and nation, to achieve and sustain economic and social equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons. The primary objectives of the or ganization are:
- Bring LGBT issues to the forefront of political agendas, platforms, and campaigns.
- Endorse and support candidates for political office who reflect the values, needs, and interests of its members and constituents.
- Lobby for legislation which upholds the civil rights of LGBT citizens.
- Participate in organizing the greater Philadelphia region LGBT community into a political voice.
- Work to form coalitions with other organizations to take progressive stands on economic and social issues.
- Work in the greater Philadelphia region, Harrisburg, Washington DC, and elsewhere to serve its members and constituents interests.
All candidates for elective office were asked to fill out a detailed questionnaire on issues of importance to the LGBT community. They were invited to address the members of our organization during a candidates night. Endorsements were made by a vote of the general membership in a process that is open to the public.
